While I don't make personal posts all that often any more, when I do I tend to think it's best not to torture everyone with my emotional trails. As such, this LJ is f-locked.

If for some reason you want to hear about these epic trails, however, just drop a comment and ruthless friending shall ensue!

Title: The Great Pawnee Riots of 2011
Word Count: 5,945
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Not mine. *sniff*
Spoilers: Up to 3x06 “Indianapolis,” AU as of "Harvest Festival."
Summary: We were bored, and we still couldn’t buy any drinks, and we saw Ben and Leslie at the bar. So I tuned to April and said, “April, my dear? How about we play a little bit of yee olde matching of makers, eh?” So to get them together we told a few lies that ended up shutting down the town!
Author’s Notes: Alas, I couldn't get this out before last week's episode. Drat! Well, it's delightfully AU as of now, which is fun in it's own way! Written in the spirit of the Hiatus Fest, if not the time-frame or for any prompt. *is bad at fest-ing* New to the Parks and Recreation fandom, haven't written anything in months, and I'm working without a beta, so any concrit would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Ben Wyatt wasn’t, despite general opinion, a completely terrible person.Collapse )

Title: Wasteland (11/14)
Characters: Ten, Martha, Donna
Word Count: 5,929
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: Not mine. *sniff*
Spoilers: Up to “Planet of the Ood.” (Sort of.)
Summary: The Doctor receives the phone call that sends him running back to Martha Jones, but all is not well with his former companion. What begins as a reunion for the travelling partners becomes something far more sinister, and the two must mend bridges, confront old demons and face new ones as they struggle to save the Earth (yet again).
Author’s Notes: Happy New Year! Thanks to everyone on FF dot net for their encouraging reviews and messages, I finished this chapter up ASAP. Sorry, not done for Christmas, but done for the new year! Different kind of chapter, so let me know what you think. No beta and not British, so any concrit would be great. Thanks and enjoy!

Day 21 - Favorite ship

Photobucket

Adama/Roslin - Battlestar Galactica - I love this ship. Mostly because they provided a (usually) very measured, mature, and realistic relationship on a show when every other character was an insane cluster of hormones. A rivalry grew into begrudging respect, into friendship, into love. I love that stuff. *grin*

Day 20 - Favorite kiss

Photobucket

Jim and Pam - The Office, "Casino Night" - The second season of The Office remains as one of my favorite seasons on TV in general, and I'm not going to lie, a large part of that adoration came from this kiss, in this episode.

Day 19 - Best TV show cast

Photobucket

Dexter - This is a strange answer, I know, and I'm still half-convinced I should switch it to Battlestar Galactica... *torment* Anyway! Dexter's cast isn't the largest, and I haven't liked plenty of the characters on the show. But, for all that, I also couldn't imagine any of the regular cast members being played by any other actors. Michael C. Hall would have a shrine in my room devoted to his bad-assery if it wasn't so creepy, and even at her most annoying I've always adored Deb thanks to Jennifer Carpenter's heartfelt portrayal. Julie Benz is brilliant as Rita, particularly in the first season, Angel has to be the best guy in the history of ever thanks to Zayas, and Laguerta may never be my favorite character in the world, but Lauren Velez certainly plays the crap out of what could easily be a one-note role. Add on to these all of the cast members who have left (I miss you, Doaks!), the brilliant guest stars (you're a creepy dude when you want to be, John Lithgow), and even the kids (well done the girl who plays Astor - way to capture the teenage angst!), and the awesomeness is just overpowering.

Author’s Notes: It has been around two years since I last updated this, gang. Shame on me. Last week I got another review on FF.net, felt like a jerk, and decided to put the pedal to the metal and do my best to finish this puppy. I've got an outline for the remaining chapters, I'm about a fourth of the way through the next section, and I'm ready to finish this WIP of death. Bring it on, world. Bring it. (But please don't cause I'm super busy right now...) No beta, not British, and as such I have a deep need of concrit. Thanks and hope you enjoy!

Day 18 - Favorite title sequence

True Blood - Come on. Perfect song, flashes of debauchery, and perfect personification of the version of the south True Blood is trying to present. Plus, it's catchy as hell.

Title: Small Things (1/1)
Characters: Rory, Amy, the Doctor
Word Count: 1,302
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Not mine. *sniff*
Spoilers: Spoilers up until 5x13, "The Big Bang".
Summary: When you’re in the TARDIS and saving the day, the small things can be easily overlooked. But then there are the other times. The nights when you know that the small things can make and unmake a universe.
Author’s Notes: First fic in forever and a day, and first shot at second person narration. (I still don't know how I feel about it... *pokes warily*) A wee bit of this idea came from the novel The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. That all being established, no beta and not British, so any concrit would be most appreciated. Thanks and enjoy!

Day 17 - Favorite mini series

Jekyll - This is actually an impossible decision. I think the only reason I choose Jekyll (over Band of Brothers, North and South, and any number of Jane Austen/Bronte adaptations) is because of my recent adoration of Sherlock. Damn you, Moffat. You're eating my brain. But anyway! Jekyll is a thriller tweaked out. A romance that doesn't make any sense. A weird trip. I love it, even if there are things about it that make me tilt my head and go, "Really? That much melodrama? We need that much?" But then we have all of the fantastic quotes! And James Nesbitt playing Hyde in a truly magnificent feat of hilarity and creepiness. And Gina Bellman! Because I get happy whenever I see anyone from Coupling. (DAMN YOU MOFFAT!!!) And Mark Gatiss! Who is clearly Moff's BFF. Anyway, point is - it's a roller coaster six episodes, and even if they're all on crack, it's delicious crack, and I want more, dangit.

Day 16 - Your guilty pleasure show

The Legend of the Seeker - Excluding reality TV shows and the ilk (I don’t care what anyone says - Top Chef Masters, Project Runway and So You Think You Can Dance are freaking awesome), LotS is by far the most embarrassing thing I’ve watched in the past decade and honestly enjoyed. It’s just… Look at all of the pretty! Look at it! And it’s like Xena was! With magic and swordy stuff and kick ass women! And it’s fun! And fun to mock! THERE’S NOTHING GUILTY ABOUT THIS PLEASURE!!! *shifty eyes*

It’s probably a good thing this show is getting canceled, if for no other reason than it might help me maintain my tenuous hold on respectability…

Day 15 - Favorite female character.

C.J. Cregg - The West Wing - This would have been another impossible choice if I hadn't slaved over this same question a year ago. See, truth is, I like a lot of bad-ass women on TV. Zoe, Kima, Dani, Tara, Peggy, Donna, Laura, and so on till forever. And they're all bad-ass, but none of them in quite the same way as C.J. Cause she, the too-tall, fast-talking, The-Jackal singing, awkward-like-whoa woman has to keep the country in order. And she has to do it without guns, without a mentor (Leo doesn't count - he mentors the world, everywhere, at all times), without space and time, and without the vestige of real, independent, power laid over her shoulders. C.J. just has to be a bad-ass all the damn time, and she does it by... Well. Being a bad-ass. Plus, at the end of it all, when she has acquired great power indeed, she leaves it all behind and snags her happy ending instead. Why? Because, again, she's a bad ass.

Day 14 - Favorite male character

Barney Stinson - How I Met Your Mother - This one was a hard for me, gang. I still don't know if Barney is my end-all, be-all, of male characters, especially since he's such an utter player in most respects. But... It's Barney! The guy who will fly to San Francisco to keep his friends together! Who had his heart broken by an evil hippie! Who made Robin a video-resume of awesomeness! Who made Ted lick the Liberty Bell! Who does magic and has the best one-liners known to man! Admittedly, "How I Met Your Mother" has been iffy lately, but Barney (and NPH) has been consistently fantastic. Granted, I love the character most when he's forced to straddle the line between ridiculousness and genuine depth, and it isn't something the writers have been able to pull off to my satisfaction (smuggery goes here!) these past few seasons. Regardless, Barney at his best is the biggest bad-ass of them all. Because he's just that awesome.

Day 13 - Favorite childhood show

Gargoyles - Because there has never existed a pilot episode so epic as that for "Gargoyles." Yes, there were plenty of the standard episode-of-the-week silliness via the typical kid-stuff, but then.. Then there was the past lover of death and destruction! And the grizzled old blind man as a companion to the grizzled old gargoyle! And the doomed love of Goliath and Elisa! A human and a gargoyle - it could never be! Plus so many actors from "Star Trek" were the voice actors! And originally the creator was going to hint at the homosexuality of one of the gargoyles, if the show hadn't been canceled! And lots of references to Shakespeare!

Guys. It was so freaking awesome!
